This famous cheese from Friuli is named after the mountain massif of Montasio.
According to an ancient legend the production of this cheese dates back to the XIII century by the monks of the nearby Abbey of Moggio.
Suitable both for the table and for grating the cheese Montasio - suggested by Peck - is the result of a process in respect of the craft procedures.
The rigorous selection among several dairies and the strict quality checks bring to your table this traditional cow milk cheese, with its intense and spicy taste due to a whole year of aging.
Thanks to the quality of its raw materials and its unique taste Montasio received in 1986 the denomination of origin.
