Peck’s Barolo Rocche Castiglione 2000 750 ml.

06 June 2008 - 09:45

Peck's barolo Peck’s Barolo Rocche wine from Castiglione is ruby-red in colour with soft garnet lights, balsamic aromas, notes of liquorice and chocolate accompanied by a pleasant mix of red berries. The tannins are sweet and enveloping.
As is known, the nebbiolo vine, from which this wine is made, needs a lot of looking after. The grapes all come from the Castiglione Falletto district, from 50 year-old vines; harvesting is late, around the first ten days of October and the bunches are selected by hand, first in the vineyard and then in the cellar before destalking and pressing. Maceration is in stainless steel tanks for 25 days (at 28-29°C), and the malolactic fermentation takes place in December.
Peck’s Barolo is refined in barrels and casks made of French oak. At the end of the summer it is bottled and left to mature further for a year.
This wine finds its perfect balance when accompanying the great traditional Italian dishes and naturally those from the Piedmont region, such as roast meats, braised meats, game, strong cheeses and food flavoured with truffles.
